Hello Z fighters.
For the small ECX Big Pack 8.4 community that we have who encounter my listened server,
you may wish to know a few things about it. And now that I had to reinstall the entire game
(because of a steam issue), it's a good opportunity to make some changes.
Now I'm not sure why but I think it has something to do with the Half-Life update; my game experience is suffering some moments of battle neck regression[after a while the keyboard and mouse are less responsive]. So I went on google and made some research to find out ways to improve my game experience. And I ran into a very interesting command.
If you have trouble connecting because of long loadings,
Open console (default key is ~ , it's the key to the left of number 1 on your keyboard)
Type in console:
fs_lazy_precache 1
then press enter and get out of console.
This will disable the precache. The precache is a feature which loads up to your computer's RAM memory, different content such as game characters. The more content you have the longer the loading goes.
When disabling the Precache, the content of the game will be load on demand. e.g. during game play. It's good to keep the precache on (fs_lazy_precache 0) if you suffer too much of FPS(frame per second) issues in general.
However, if you are having trouble connecting to any server because the server's amount of content (in ECX it's the amount of characters ) you may wish to turn off the precache (fs_lazy_precache 1)
I personally turned off the precache because of the amazing speed of loading. As I'm myself trying this feature, I am yet to decided rather I wish to keep it.
However since I do not suffer major FPS issues, keeping the precache off seems ideal.
As for the server: Power Level Catch Up is OFF -- e.g. You will have to actually fight in order to gain KI (or ask the dragon for strength) and you will NOT LOOSE KI upon death.
Friendly Fire is ON -- it makes things a lot more interesting. It makes the player care more about beam spamming and keeps you on alert. Team killing is not allowed. A rude violation will cause a Steam ID ban.
And there is one 3rd party map you may wish to download in order to play in the server
(I will not allow the server to upload files because of my poor bandwidth I would like to prevent lags as much as possible)
The map is esf_babidi_ship

P.S - No screenshots for today. Steam "repaired" my ESF folder by removing all my games content.

Earth's Special Forces
Who didn't like the old classic Japanese Dragon Ball Z series? There is no doubt that rather you liked it or not, that it is one very fine piece of art.
In the following I'm going to introduce you a video game based of the Dragon Ball Z world. I'm talking of course about the "Half-Life" video game modification, known as "Earth's Special Forces".

It may leak the feeling of involvement in a Japanese anima playground because of its adaption of the first "Half-Life" virtual world but it will give you a strong enough sense of the Dragon Ball Z intense fights and battles.
Unlike any other video games that are based on Dragon Ball Z anima, ESF (Earth's Special Forces) doesn't involve re-experiencing the original plot of the DBZ series but you will be fighting others online (or offline against in-game bots) in a death match kind of game play, allowing you to collect dragon balls, summon the dragon and ask for a wish.. while also allowing you to select your favorite character and transform when gaining enough "KI" or "Power Level".

The screenshots here were taken from one of the most popular unofficial addons to the game. The one known as "ECX RC 2" with the extra fix pack known as "Big Pack 8.4".. Adding more characters and features to the game.
However now days under development is a new ESF version, known as ESF 1.3; will offer a new style of game play, new imporved content and some other major upgrades. As for now, the current stable version released is ESF 1.2.3 which only offer a short variouty of characters, and having only 4 major features:
1. Ascending, changing only into 1 form for all characters.
2. Melee fighting, Advanced and Basic.
3. KI (Energy) balls and such figthing technics, flying and teleport are included.
4. Use of the Dragon Ball.
The rest are features as the Scouter (Radar), third person/ first person view, powering up, MP3 player and so on.
ESF 1.3 is destanted to have a lot more than that but for those who cannot wait to ESF 1.3, can download unofficial extends such as ECX and Big Pack to make their ESF 1.2.3 work wonders!
Thus, including more content such as: Maps, More Characters and a cool character changing menu, more transformations, more attacks, fusions and so on.
So, now that I introduced you to ESF, in the future I will farther expend about the "Lost Majin Clan", its ESF history, its current activities and future plans. And what kind of gameplay do we expect to have.. Ideas such as Boss player, and training new comers.

That's all for today!
